Tigers Best Orioles, 5-2
|
The Detroit Tigers defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 5-2, in American League action at Comerica Park. Detroit pitcher Dan Rae had a standout performance. Eric Corbett recorded the save for Detroit, his 28th of the season. Detroit is in third place in the American League Central Division with a record of 58-64.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the sixth inning. Facing Baltimore hurler Mike Poppe, Willis Ricordi, who finished 5th in the AL in batting average with .309 in 2035, hit a run-scoring double. The Tigers went on to win.
"Good win for us," said Rae. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
