Cardinals Lose Late, 5-3
|
Drew Bianco made an impact in the 5-3 Pittsburgh win over St. Louis. Bianco, who finished 2nd in the AL in extra base hits with 84 in 2030, went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Arabhata Sompalli picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 7-3. Jeff Flynn was tagged with the loss. Jayden Jackson was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
Pittsburgh used the clutch hitting of Christian Armento to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pirates ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Feels good to get the job done," Armento said after the game.
Pittsburgh is now 79-41, while St. Louis is 64-57.
