Blue Jays Down Yankees, 2-0
|
In a well-pitched game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees, pitcher Josh Potts was fantastic. The Toronto left-hander helped his team secure the win, 2-0. Toronto reliever Ndrèu Seseri got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Gioacchino Loria was tagged with the loss. The Blue Jays improved to 42-72.
Danny Alvarez electrified the crowd in the bottom of the 12th when he took New York pitcher Gioacchino Loria deep. His 2-run home run sent the Blue Jays home winners.
During his postgame press conference, Blue Jays manager Scott Lieser told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
