Vanegas Leads Mariners to 5-4 Win Over Nationals
|
A 4-RBI performance from the 20-year old center fielder Tony Vanegas helped the Seattle (DSL) Mariners beat the Washington (DSL) Nationals, 5-4. Seattle (DSL) reliever Alexis Quezada picked up the win, upping his record to 1-3. Joe Petrovic shouldered the loss. Seattle (DSL) now sits in last place in the Boca Chica South Division at 31-57.
Daniel Jimenez drove in one run for Seattle (DSL). The 18-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Joe Petrovic. It was his 22nd RBI of the season.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Washington (DSL) manager Sandy Madera. "But we decided not to take it."
