Cubs Stick Cardinals with 6-5 Loss
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a superb performance from center fielder Mike Mayne. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Chicago. The Cubs won the game, 6-5. Mayne hit 2 home runs. Chicago is now 51-53, while St. Louis is 60-46.
Tommy Maclin's at-bat in the top of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 2-2. The Chicago center fielder hit a run-scoring single off Franklin Ramirez to put the Cubs up.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Maclin told the Chicago Daily.
