Cardinals Earn 4-3 Win Versus Cubs
|
Starting pitcher Dave Ortiz pitched well enough to help the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Chicago Cubs, 4-3. Bill Rojas, credited with the win, is now 2-2. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. St. Louis is now 59-45.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when St. Louis designated hitter Tony Calvo, facing Juan Herrera, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Cardinals the 4-3 win.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Calvo said.
