Montreal Draws Blanks Against Velasquez
In an impressive outing, Ernesto Velasquez blanked the Montreal Expos 6-0.

"I'm getting a lot more downward movement instead of side to side. That side-to-side stuff can get hit a long way," said Velasquez, who is throwing with more of an overhand motion.

"It's not rocket science. It was just a little adjustment, but that's all it took."

The St. Louis hurler held Montreal scoreless, allowed 1 hit, chalked up 10 strikeouts and yielded no walks.

This season Velasquez has a 9-3 mark in 20 starts with a 2.72 ERA. He has given up 90 hits in 129 innings, struck out 159 and issued 29 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .195 batting average against him.
