The fans in Clearwater are celebrating the Threshers victory over the Lakeland Flying Tigers in the Round 1.

They defeated the Lakeland Flying Tigers 9-0 in the finale played at Spectrum Field to capture the series 4-2.

Erik Mangini was chosen the series' Most Valuable Player. The Threshers center fielder batted .480, drove in 14 runs and scored 6 runs in the series.

"The Flying Tigers are a good club and I don't mean any disrespect to their pitching staff, but things just felt easy this series," Mangini said. "Everything at the plate seemed right."

The Clearwater Threshers will play against the St. Lucie Mets in the next round. St. Lucie won their series against the Jupiter Hammerheads 4 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
