The New York Mets got a sterling performance from catcher Danny Alfaro, but the Seattle Mariners still prevailed, 6-4. Alfaro was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. Seattle reliever Luis Mejia picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Vinny Yanez absorbed the loss. Dan Liggins recorded his 15th save for Seattle.

Seattle used a clutch hit from J.D. Woods to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mariners ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It was a solid team effort," said Woods after the game.

Seattle raised its record to 55-45 with the win.
