Guardians Fell Blue Jays, 3-1
|
Alan May pitched a gem to lead Cleveland to victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-1. The winning pitcher was May, now 5-12. He tossed 6 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Bobby Bassett got credit for the save for Cleveland. It was his 21st of the year.
Doug Palmer, who led the AL in extra base hits with 90 last year, came through for Cleveland with a solo home run in the top of the fifth. The left fielder was a perfect 3 for 3 in the game, including 1 home run and 2 singles. He scored 1 run and collected 1 RBI.
May told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
With the win, Cleveland has a record of 43-56. Toronto falls to 35-64.
