Pirates Beat Nationals in 11
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates faced a tough opponent in Washington pitcher Cris Perez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at PNC Park by a final score of 3-2. Perez went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs. Pittsburgh pitcher Bobby Stothard got the win. He's now 7-11. Jon Pineda was tagged with the loss. Pittsburgh is first in the National League Central Division with a record of 65-32.
The Pirates relied on left fielder Jin-ho Kim for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the 11th, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.
Kim said afterward that he was "glad the fans were treated to a good ballgame."
