5 Straight Wins for Yankees
|
The New York Yankees did just enough to secure a victory over the Baltimore Orioles, 6-5, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Nobody did more than first baseman Art Werth. New York, now 58-40, holds down first place in the American League East Division.
The outcome might have been different for New York, had it not been for Robert Puason, the six-time Most Valuable Player Award winner . Puason stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put New York up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I expect to carry this team on my shoulders at times," said Puason.
