Late Magic Gets Texas 7-5 Win
|
The Texas Rangers beat the Montreal Expos by a score of 7-5. Texas second baseman Rodolfo Soto deserved the lion's share of the credit. Soto went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs for the Rangers. Tyler Williams got credit for the win, improving to 4-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Francisco Crispin got the save, his 23rd in 30 chances.
Texas needed the clutch hitting of Hector Gomez to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rangers on top, 7-5. For the game, Gomez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Gomez.
Texas's record now stands at 63-34, placing them first in the American League West Division.
