Pittsburgh Sweeps Texas
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates rolled over the Texas Rangers 6-1 at Globe Life Field to easily win the 2039 World Series crown.
Pittsburgh won in a walk and swept the series from the Rangers 4-0. It was their 8th championship title.
Winning manager Matt Kata praised his own club as well as the opposition, calling the Rangers "a fine team."
"It wasn't as easy as it looked. We had to play good baseball to beat them," he said. "We always seemed to come up with the key hit at the right time and to make the plays on defense when we had to. That's how you win the World Series."
The Pirates took first place in the National League Central Division and rounded out the year with a 110-52 record.
