Host Expos Drop Pivotal Game 5, Now Trail Series 3-2
|
The Texas Rangers have a critical edge over the Montreal Expos in the League Championship Series, thanks to the veteran arm of Ramon Araya.
Araya, 31, put on a dominant performance at Olympic Stadium today, leading the Rangers to victory, 8-0, in a pivotal Game 5. Texas is now one game away from the World Series, leading the best-of-7 series by a margin of 3-2. Montreal will need to win both remaining games to advance.
Araya went the distance for Texas. He allowed no runs on 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2.
Montreal manager Takeru Furumoto said his team was "out of sync."
Game 6 is scheduled for Monday at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
