Minnesota Twins starter Leonardo Gomez was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the New Orleans Voodoo, 3-1. Gomez, now 3-6, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Minnesota, now 32-59, holds down last place in the American League Central Division.
In the bottom of the seventh, Danny Lara stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Voodoo were trailing 3-0, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Roland Corless made a terrific pitch and Lara struck out. Gone was the dream of a New Orleans comeback.
