New York Mets starter J.J. McNamee turned in a sterling performance against the San Diego Padres, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. McNamee went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 11-1. Larry Ashford earned the save, his 1st, for the Mets.
In the bottom of the sixth, New York right fielder Ben Long hit a 2-run home run to left field. It put the Mets up, 2-0.
"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said New York manager Hunter Smith.
With the win, New York upped its record to 57-31.
