Mets Sneak Past Giants, 2-1
|
New York used a superb performance from starting pitcher Andrew Dalquist to down the San Francisco Giants, 2-1. Brandon Barriera picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-3. Jim Shane was tagged with the loss. New York leads the National League East Division by 9 games.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when first baseman Greg Spencer, who finished 4th in the AL in hits with 188 in 2032, hit a triple. The Mets went on to win.
"Andrew is tough when he's hitting his spots," said New York manager Hunter Smith.
