Rangers Surge Past Expos to Take 2-0 Series Lead
A big day at the plate from left fielder Matt Rose was not enough to keep the Texas Rangers from extending their lead in the League Championship Series. The Rangers topped Rose and the Montreal Expos 4-3 at Globe Life Field today in Game 2, and now hold a 2-0 edge in the best-of-7 series. Rose went 3 for 3 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times in the loss.

Alex Batista clinched the win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth. In the game, the Texas center fielder was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs.

"It was a great atmosphere today," Batista said. "It made me want to find out what this great crowd would sound like for a World Series game."

Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Olympic Stadium in Montreal.
