Expos Clip Mariners 2-1 in WC Contest
The Montreal Expos got a desperately needed win against the Seattle Mariners today to move into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-3 Wild Card Round. The star of the 2-1 win at Olympic Stadium was Montreal right-hander Brad Loggans, who threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The Expos and Mariners will next meet in a decisive Game 3.

The clutch hit was provided by Frank Vergara. He delivered a walk-off run-scoring single off Dan Liggins in the bottom of the ninth.

"This team is championship material," Vergara told BNN reporters after the game. "I can see it when I look around the clubhouse. We've still got a long way to go, but I know this team."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Olympic Stadium in Montreal.
