Braves Top Phillies, 3-2
|
The Atlanta Braves topped the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-2, in National League action at Truist Park. The standout performance belonged to Atlanta pitcher and Livingston, New Jersey, native Mike Miller. Miller picked up the win for Atlanta, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 8-4. Steve Epperson got credit for the save for Atlanta. It was his 22nd of the year.
Cliff McElroy struck a blow for the Braves in the bottom of the fifth when he hit a 3-run home run. It put his team ahead, 3-0. For the game, McElroy was 1-2 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Every loss hurts," said Philadelphia manager Tyler L. Johnson. "But this was a tough one."
The Braves, at 42-39, sit in second place in the National League East Division.
