One for the Ages: LumberKings Beat Loons on 17th Inning Walk-Off
|
The Clinton LumberKings nearly wasted a strong game from starter Felix Escalante, but were saved by some timely hitting in a 17th inning walk-off win over the Great Lakes Loons today.
Escalante pitched well in the 2-1 win at NelsonCorp Field. He threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The win allowed Clinton to seize a 2-1 lead in the best-of-5 Round 2.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 17th inning, when Clinton second baseman Angel Lopez, facing Mark Watson, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the LumberKings the 2-1 win.
"This place was rockin'," said Lopez.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at NelsonCorp Field in Clinton.
