Columbia Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
The Columbia Fireflies got a strong game from starter Josh Briones, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.

The Fireflies took the 3-2 win over the Lakewood BlueClaws in Game 2 of the Round 2 in a 9th inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine outing for the left-handed Briones. Briones threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball in the win, which gave the Fireflies a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.

Dave St.george was the walk-off hero for Columbia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Fireflies designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.

"This place was rockin'," St.george said.

The next game is set to be played for Sunday, September 19th , 2038 at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood.
