The Pittsburgh Pirates got a superb performance from left fielder Jin-ho Kim. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Washington. The Nationals won the game, 5-4. Kim was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Franklin Sarmiento, the winner, goes to 3-3. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts over 5 innings. Jake Martinson recorded the save for Washington, his 4th of the season.
Jeff Hebert drove in one run against the Pirates. In the bottom of the first inning, he reached on an error by the left fielder, driving in 1 run, putting Washington in front, 1-0.
"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said Hebert.
Washington, now 33-47, holds down last place in the National League East Division.
