Schultz Lifts Mariners to 5-4 Triumph
The 5-4 Seattle win over Texas was due in large part to Jim Schultz. The Mariners right fielder was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Dan Liggins got the save, his 13th in 16 chances. The Mariners raised their record to 46-35.

Schultz came through with some timely hitting for Seattle. With Texas trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Schultz hit a 2-0 fastball for a 3-run home run. His 13th home run of the season made it 5-4, Seattle.

"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Schultz told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
