Pirates Top Blue Jays, 7-1
|
The Toronto Blue Jays got a superb performance from pitcher Pat Belanger. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Pittsburgh. The Pirates won the game, 7-1. Belanger threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Earning his 1st save for Pittsburgh was Bobby Stothard. Pittsburgh is in first place in the National League Central Division with a record of 50-24.
Judson Fabian provided some punch for the Pirates. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd and Pittsburgh trailing 1-0, he lit into a curveball from Pat Belanger, sending it out of the park. The 3-run homer put the Pirates up, 3-1.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Fabian.
