New York pitcher Josh Powers did his part in helping his team beat the Washington Nationals, 6-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The save was credited to Brandon Barriera, his 1st. New York is now 44-25, while Washington is 29-40.

Danny Alfaro delivered a big hit for the Mets. The veteran catcher belted a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. The longball put New York on top, 6-0. Overall, Alfaro was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Powers.
