Giants Beat Pirates, 1-0
|
The San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates put on a pitchers' duel.
Zachariah Molina never let Pittsburgh get something going. The San Francisco right-hander commanded his sinker in pitching the Giants to a 1-0 win. In 6.2 innings, Molina surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. The save went to Bob Cooper, number 12 for him.
In the bottom of the fifth, San Francisco second baseman Joe Harrod had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Harrod stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 1-0, San Francisco. For the game, he went 1 for 3 with a walk.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said San Francisco skipper Charlie Fay. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
San Francisco, with the win, sits at 20-46.
