Red Sox Drop Yankees, 2-1
|
Boston Red Sox starter Chad Coleman turned in an exceptional performance against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium, resulting in a Boston win, 2-1. The winning pitcher was Coleman, now 3-5. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Marc Triplett was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
Boston used a timely hit from Brendan Stogner to get the win. The first baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Red Sox on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was huge.
Stogner attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
The Red Sox, at 27-41, sit in 4th place in the American League East Division.
