Cleveland Wastes Great Game by Palmer
The Cleveland Guardians got a superb performance from left fielder Doug Palmer. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Minnesota. The Twins won the game, 11-7. Palmer hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Minnesota reliever Dan Gillispie picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Eric Stiff absorbed the loss. The Twins go to 25-40, putting them last in the American League Central Division.

The Twins beat the Guardians in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Vince Best produced in the bottom of the eighth. Batting against Anderson, Best gave his team a 11-7 lead when he hit a grand slam home run.

Best told the Minnesota Daily: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
