Nationals Stop Mets, 6-3
|
The Washington Nationals defeated the New York Mets, 6-3, at Nationals Park. Washington pinch hitter Quincy McAfee had a superb performance. He was 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Washington reliever Bobby Pudney picked up the win, raising his record to 7-1. Brandon Barriera was tagged with the loss. Jamie Goodman got the save, the 1st for him this season.
McAfee turned the game around in the bottom of the seventh. Facing Brandon Barriera, the Washington pinch hitter rapped a grand slam home run. Suddenly, the 3-2 Washington deficit turned into a 6-3 lead.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said McAfee.
The Nationals now own a record of 27-35.
