Cubs Beat Reds, 6-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds got a sterling performance from pitcher Daniel Farinas, but the Chicago Cubs still prevailed, 6-3. Farinas threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Chicago reliever Sean Dohm picked up the win to move to 5-3. Phil Irons suffered the loss. Juan Exposito nailed down his 10th save.
In the bottom of the seventh, Chicago pinch hitter Eric Herron gave his team the lead. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Blueprint hit his 7th home run of the year. Cincinnati pitcher Phil Irons surrendered it. With that, the Cubs jumped in front, 4-3.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Cincinnati manager Antwonie Hubbard. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
With the win, Chicago goes to 28-33, while the Reds fall to 30-30.
