Tigers Sink Mariners, 5-4
|
A 3-RBI performance from third baseman Jose Simon Frye, who is tied for 8th in the AL in home runs with 15, led the Detroit Tigers to a win over the Seattle Mariners, 5-4. Detroit starter Juan Campos was credited with the win after throwing 104 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 3-6. With this game in the books, Detroit is 25-31, Seattle 33-25.
Frye brought the fans to their feet in the bottom of the third, when the 23-year old third baseman ripped a 2-run home run. The round-tripper put Detroit ahead, 2-0.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Frye told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
