Washington Doubles Up Miami, 8-4
|
The Washington Nationals downed the Miami Marlins, 8-4. The hitting star was catcher Jeff Hebert. Hebert went 2-3 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times for the Nationals. The winning pitcher was Franklin Sarmiento. He's now 1-1. He went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits for the Nationals. Washington, at 22-28, occupies 4th place in the National League East Division.
Washington left fielder Erick Pena gave his club a productive at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded and the Nationals trailing 3-2, Pena drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
Despite the victory, Pena was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
