Guardians Rally to Beat Dodgers, 5-4
|
Andres Muratalla did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Los Angeles Dodgers from losing, 5-4, to the Cleveland Guardians at Dodger Stadium. Muratalla went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. The winner was Cleveland reliever Xander Mercer, now 3-0. The loser was Bill Toledo. Bobby Bassett earned the save, his 10th.
One of the clutch hits for Cleveland came from one of their biggest talents. In the top of the eighth with two out, Doug Palmer, who won the triple-crown last season, hit a run-scoring single to put the Guardians up, 5-4. For the game, the left fielder went 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Palmer told the Cleveland Today.
The last-place Guardians are 19-33.
