Losing Skid Reaches 8 Games for Yankees
|
The Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees, 6-1, at Fenway Park. Boston left fielder Phil Lafnear had an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. New York is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 8 in a row.
With Boston leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Lafnear came up to bat against New York pitcher Tim Rawnsley. Lafnear hit a changeup to center for a bases-clearing double. His 6th double of the season put the Red Sox on top, 5-1.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Lafnear told the Boston Herald.
