Braves Top Giants, 2-1
|
Atlanta Braves starter Tony Shockley turned in an exceptional performance against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park, resulting in a Atlanta win, 2-1. Shockley went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 5-2. The save went to Steve Epperson, number 13 for him.
In the top of the 6th, third baseman Robert Musco gave Atlanta the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Braves had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out single off San Francisco pitcher Zachariah Molina changed that -- and Atlanta went on to win.
"It was our day today," Musco told the Atlanta Gazette. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
Atlanta is now 25-20, San Francisco 11-34.
