Boston used a superb performance from starting pitcher Chad Coleman to down the Atlanta Braves, 3-1. Coleman went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-3. Charlie Bartholomew got credit for the save for Boston. It was his 5th of the year.

In the top of the first, Marcelo Mayer ambushed a 1-1 slider from Hector Moya and hit a solo home run. It gave Boston a quick 1-0 lead.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Mayer said after the game.

The Red Sox' win now puts them at 13-31.
