Guardians Lambaste Orioles, 12-2
|
The Cleveland Guardians downed the Baltimore Orioles, 12-2, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Guardians were led by Ruben Covarrubias. He was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Picking up the win was Josh Schmitz. He went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 3. With the victory, the Guardians record now stands at 15-31.
Cleveland relied on the hitting of Eddie Mancilla to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Guardians on top, 9-2. For the game, Mancilla had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Baltimore manager Jorge Agudelo was on the defensive afterward. "You can go back and make us look as bad as you want to," he told a reporter, "and then I can throw more numbers at you and make us look better."
