The Minnesota Twins defeated the Houston Astros, 5-3, in American League action at Minute Maid Park. Minnesota pitcher Luis Duran had a standout performance. Minnesota reliever Joel Ford picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Evan Shawver absorbed the loss. Vinny McFarland collected his 9th save.

Minnesota needed the clutch hitting of Kevin Buck to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Twins on top, 4-3. For the game, Buck had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Buck told a Minnesota Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

The third-place Twins improved to 19-23.
