Guardians Lose to Tigers, 3-1
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Guardians. Detroit won it, 3-1. Detroit starter Mitch Abrams was in command. Daryl Green came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. With the win, Detroit goes to 18-22, while the Guardians fall to 14-29.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Chris Evans didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Cleveland trailing 2-1, Evans retired Curt Herlihy to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Evans, with a wink.
