Behind a solid performance from catcher Mike Shubeck, the Chicago A (DSL) White Sox defeated the Minnesota (DSL) Twins, 6-5. Shubeck was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the White Sox. Rich Guerrero, now 2-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 3.1 innings. The White Sox now own a record of 23-31.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning when the White Sox sent teenager Arturo Montoro to the plate against Twins hurler Ivan Solano. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 2-1 curveball to score 2.
"It was a solid team effort," said Montoro after the game.
