Number 2500 for Ramos
|
"It would have been a lot nicer if my 2500th hit had won the game," said Heliot Ramos after the Pittsburgh Pirates had been tripped up by the Philadelphia Phillies, 4-3, spoiling his big day. The Pirates right fielder gained access to the exclusive 2500-hit club by going 2-for-4 in the game played at PNC Park.
"The standing ovation by the fans is not something I will ever forget," Ramos said to the press after the game. "I think even the Phillies fans were cheering me."
In his career, Ramos has accumulated a .275 batting average with 2500 hits. His totals include 393 doubles, 29 triples, 570 home runs, 2215 strikeouts, 1466 runs scored, 1608 RBIs and a lifetime .344 OBP.
