Cardinals Sink Padres, 10-6
|
Christian Hamilton did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the San Diego Padres from losing, 10-6, to the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Hamilton was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. St. Louis reliever Jeff Flynn picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Danny Toro was saddled with the loss. Getting the save was Case Williams, his 1st.
Terry Smith tagged a home run off Danny Toro in the bottom of the fourth. His grand slam blast put the Cardinals on top, 4-1. In all, Smith had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Smith.
St. Louis raised its record to 23-15 with the win.
