Mariners Rally For 4-1 Win
|
The Seattle Mariners got a good effort from starter Joe Berg in defeating the Oakland Athletics at Oakland Coliseum. The final score was 4-1. The winner was Dan Liggins in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Rodrigo Altamirano took the loss. The second-place Mariners are now 22-16, the Athletics 16-22.
The outcome might have been different for Seattle, had it not been for Dan Knutson, the 24-year old right fielder . Knutson stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Seattle up, 4-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Knutson said.
