Starting pitcher Glen Myers pitched well enough to help the Texas Rangers beat the Boston Red Sox, 9-6. The winning pitcher was Myers, now 4-0. He tossed 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 7. Francisco Crispin, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.

The Rangers got an important contribution from designated hitter Eric Parr, who in the top of the second punched a first pitch fastball into center for a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Rangers ahead, 3-0.

"Winning is not something we take for granted," Myers said.

Now 9-26, the Red Sox have gotten off to a poor start.
