Saldivar, Braves Too Much for Tourists
|
No one was more impactful than Manny Saldivar in the 5-3 Rome win over Asheville. Saldivar, who is tied for 8th in the in RBI with 33, was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Tim McBean earned the win for Rome. He lasted 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 4-6. Eric Bentley sewed up the save, his 12th.
Dave Combs was a prime factor in the win for the Braves. In the top of the seventh with two out, the 21-year old center fielder hit a run-scoring single. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Combs said.
Rome currently is in third place in the Southern Division at 32-35.
