Big Day for Gardner in 5-2 Giants Win
|
Ben Gardner impressed in the 5-2 San Francisco win over Cleveland. Gardner, who is the top prospect in the Giants organization, went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. San Francisco pitcher Ben Bowland got the win. He's now 2-2. Oscar Estrada was tagged with the loss. The Guardians fall to 11-23 and continue to sputter in the early going.
With San Francisco leading 3-0 in the top of the fourth, Gardner came up to bat against Cleveland pitcher Oscar Estrada. Gardner hit a slider to center for a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Giants on top, 5-0.
"It was a solid team effort," said Gardner after the game.
