Athletics Fell Yankees, 5-2
|
The Oakland Athletics got a stellar performance from pitcher Jaquan Green, who handcuffed the New York offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Oakland Coliseum. Green picked up the win for Oakland, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 2-2. The win puts the Athletics at 15-18, while the Yankees drop to 21-12.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Athletics grabbed the lead when Aaron Yarbrough rapped a two-out single. Oakland was trailing 2-1, when Yarbrough hit a 2-run single off Mike Rasing to put his team in front, 3-2.
"It's a mindset," said Green. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
