Beloit wasted a solid 7-inning effort from starting pitcher Ben Kaufmann, losing to Fort Wayne, 2-0, at Harry C. Pohlman Field. Fort Wayne reliever Mike Coop was the winner. His record is now 7-3. Ben Kaufmann took the loss. The third-place TinCaps have a record of 75-59.
Hector Herrejon struck a blow for the TinCaps in the top of the fifth when he hit a 2-run home run. It put his team ahead, 2-0. For the game, Herrejon went 2-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Good win for us," said Herrejon. "We'll lace up our cleats and go after the next one."
